Human herpesvirus 6 variant A glycoprotein H-glycoprotein L-glycoprotein Q complex associates with human CD46.
Human CD46 is a cellular receptor for human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6). Virus entry into host cells requires a glycoprotein H (gH)-glycoprotein L (gL) complex. We show that the CD46 ectodomain blocked HHV-6 infection and bound a complex of gH-gL and the 80-kDa U100 gene product, designated glycoprotein Q, indicating that the complex is a viral ligand for CD46.
Studies on the formation of urea-insoluble fibrin.
It has been shown that fibrin clots are of two types (l-3). One, denoted here as fibrin s, is soluble in 5 M (30 per cent) urea and in certain other solvents (4) ; the other, denoted here as fibrin i, is insoluble in these reagents. Fibrin i clots show a higher rigidity and lower stress relaxation than those of fibrin s (5). Calcium and a non-dialyzable factor found in plasma are necessary for ...

Bacterial Overexpression of the Human Interleukin-2 in Insoluble Form via the pET Trx Fusion System
Selection of a system for successful recombinant protein production is important. The aim of this study wasto produce high levels of human interleukin-2 (hIL-2) in soluble form. To this end, the pET32a vector inEscherichia coli BL21 (DE3) was used as an expression system, since it was previously used for the productionof mouse IL-2 in soluble form. The results indicated that c...
